XPeng G9L Opens European Orders as Smart Driving Moves to Public Road Experience

XPeng's layout in Europe is expanding from new car sales and local production to public experience of its smart driving capabilities.

On October 12 local time, XPeng unveiled its flagship SUV G9L at the Paris Motor Show and opened European orders, with a starting price of 74,990 euros in the French market. At the same event, XPeng conducted its first large-scale public road NGP experience in Europe. As the new car enters the sales phase and assisted driving capabilities take to local roads, what XPeng is advancing in Europe is not just model expansion, but also its intelligent selling points.

The G9L is XPeng's new model aimed at the European high-end market. The new car measures over 5.1 meters in length with a 3.1-meter wheelbase, and comes equipped with an 800V high-voltage platform, smart parking and other features. XPeng says the car took three years to develop and completed 6.74 million kilometers of road testing across 26 countries and regions. Body dimensions, charging speed and intelligent configurations together form its product selling points, while the French pricing puts this flagship model formally to the test in the local market.

Alongside the launch comes local production. The G9L has completed its first round of trial production at the Magna plant in Graz, Austria, becoming the fourth model XPeng produces at that factory after the G6, G9 and P7+. From existing models to the new flagship, XPeng is gradually building a product lineup covering different price points in Europe, and placing manufacturing close to its target markets.

Smart driving is the other main thread of this motor show.

Previously, XPeng disclosed that NGP had completed localized acceptance testing in Germany and was undergoing road testing in the Netherlands. At the Paris Motor Show, XPeng used the L03 to participate in the official "Autonomous Lab" event, allowing the public to experience NGP on real roads. XPeng and Tesla were the two automakers participating in the event.

For XPeng, this moves its smart driving display from local testing to a stage where European consumers can experience it directly.

This step comes as XPeng's European business continues to expand. XPeng previously disclosed that its cumulative deliveries in Europe have exceeded 60,000 units. As its sales network and model lineup grow, letting users experience NGP on local roads helps XPeng turn "intelligence" from specifications and launch event demonstrations into a product experience that European consumers can judge for themselves.

The Paris Motor Show delivered two new developments in XPeng's European layout: the G9L has begun taking orders, and NGP has carried out its first large-scale public road experience. Next, whether XPeng can bring the smart driving experience from test rides to more car owners will determine how far this technology can go in Europe.
