EasyMarkets Notes New Alteration Zone Awaits Gold Assay Confirmation

On 12 October, the appearance of alteration and quartz veins in drill core does not amount to confirmation of a new high-grade gold discovery.

EasyMarkets stated that Dalaroo recorded a 34-metre alteration zone in a new drill hole at its Bondoukou project in Cote d'Ivoire, located roughly 1.25 kilometres from a previous discovery.

The current disclosure is based mainly on geological observation, and the new gold content still requires laboratory assay confirmation.

That interval begins at about 62 metres downhole, and reports suggest its geological features bear similarities to the earlier discovery hole.

EasyMarkets believes that such similarity can help in planning follow-up exploration, but the gold grade of the old hole cannot be applied directly to the new hole.

The presence of visible minerals such as pyrite also cannot by itself be used to judge economic value.

If valid assay results are obtained from holes located away from the existing discovery, that would help test the lateral direction in which the mineral system extends.

A practical assessment also needs to clarify the angle between the drill hole and the orebody, the true thickness of the interval, and the correlations between different hole locations.

Surface locations far apart may indicate a larger exploration area, or they may represent separate geological structures.

Sample preparation, repeat testing and blank sample controls also affect the credibility of assays, and when results are released these technical materials need to be considered together to judge how strong the new clues are.

EasyMarkets analysis says the market should now wait in turn for assays, additional drilling and model revisions, and avoid describing potential clues as confirmed resource growth.

Only when new results and existing data corroborate each other is there a basis for adjusting assessments of project scale.

For those watching the gold sector, keeping the hierarchy of evidence clear is more meaningful than chasing a single eye-catching interval.
