CLP Q1–Q3 2026: Hong Kong Power Sales Up 2.5%, Interim Dividend Maintained at HK$0.63

Bulletin Express
Oct 12

CLP Holdings Limited reported a 2.5% year-on-year rise in Hong Kong electricity sales to 28,131 GWh for the nine months ended 30 September 2026, supported by solid economic activity and a 12.8% surge in demand from data centres, which now account for 6.6% of total consumption. Segment performance was mixed: commercial sales increased 4.3%, infrastructure and public services 4.0%, manufacturing 1.0%, while residential demand eased 1.4%.

Higher global fuel prices lifted CLP Power’s Average Net Tariff 4.8% between January and October. A special fuel rebate, paid from August to October, is expected to return about HK$100 each to roughly half of residential customers. Investment continues in Northern Metropolis infrastructure and a pilot hydrogen-natural gas co-firing project at Black Point Power Station was placed on the Government’s “Trial Projects on Hydrogen Fuel for Local Application” list in August.

Chinese mainland operations saw stable output from Guangdong nuclear assets, though average tariffs at Yangjiang softened due to greater exposure to competitive market sales. New wind and solar capacity—Juancheng I (300 MW) and Guanxian I (125 MW) in Shandong, plus Sandu II (100 MW) and Xundian III (50 MW) in southwest China—supported a moderate uptick in renewable generation despite curtailment and weaker resource conditions. Construction began on three additional projects totaling 326 MW, all backed by mechanism tariff or corporate offtake arrangements.

In Australia, EnergyAustralia’s generation fleet remained reliable but weaker wholesale prices and reduced volatility compressed margins. Retail accounts fell by about 125,000 to 2.20 million over the past 12 months following tariff cuts in July. Battery expansion continued: the 350 MW/1,400 MWh Wooreen project achieved substation energisation in September and targets completion in Q3 2027; the 50 MW/200 MWh Hallett battery remains on schedule for H2 2027. A transformation office has been set up to lower operating costs amid a challenging market outlook.

Apraava Energy in India delivered higher wind and solar generation and steady performance from transmission assets. Three renewable projects under construction (total 850 MW) and three transmission projects (about 473 km of lines and 9,000 MVA of substations) remain on track for commissioning this year. Two additional transmission projects were secured in Q3, adding roughly 450 km of lines and 9,000 MVA of capacity. Advanced metering work progressed, with more than 4.1 million smart meters installed of a planned 9 million.

Ho-Ping Power Station in Taiwan increased generation, and a bid has been submitted for power-purchase agreement renewal beyond 2027. Lopburi Solar Farm in Thailand continued stable operations.

The Board declared a third interim dividend of HK$0.63 per share (unchanged from 2025), payable on 15 December 2026 to shareholders on record as of 4 December 2026. The dividend applies to 2.53 billion shares outstanding.

Chairman The Hon Sir Michael Kadoorie signed off the statement on 12 October 2026.
