President Donald Trump on August 24 posted on social media platform X, launching a blistering attack on Ontario Premier Doug Ford, describing him as the "less charismatic, intelligent, and overall unimpressive brother" of the late former Toronto mayor Rob Ford, and warning that Canada will face "far WORSE" consequences if it does not fall in line with the United States.
Trump wrote: "America has been carrying Canada for decades, but no longer! Without the United States, Canada couldn’t survive — It’s where they get all of their money." He accused Prime Minister Mark Carney and his "Flunky" Ford of failed leadership, pointing to Canada's 10% unemployment rate and fleeing businesses as evidence. Trump also noted that much of Canada's electricity, oil, and gas is transported through the U.S., and warned: "Someone should get these clowns to ‘fall in line’ or, the consequences for Canada will be far WORSE! The days of ripping off our Farmers, and other Businesses, are OVER!"
Trump concluded the post with: "Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP."
